February 7th Week two already

Yesterday I went and practiced some golf shots at the free practice area and paid to drive at the next door driving range. I have arranged to play in Spain next Monday. Kelly and I took a walk at Kelly's insistence. I took video to try and relearn how to put a video on the blog. If I have succeed you will see Kelly walking along the Boardwalk. If not I will continue to try.
Weather is still beautiful, but not as warm as February 5th. I am writing this on the morning of February 7th and it is overcast and suppose to rain this evening.

February 5, 2020 trip to Huelva

Huelva is the port in Spain where Christopher Columbus sailed to the new world. We checked out some of the Columbus sites in Huelva today.

We did not go into the monastery where Columbus lived before he went sailing. We did not go into the three replicas of Columbus's Ships. We may go back with Laughlin and Kate oh did I forget Sophia. We had a good  drive and a wonderful day. On the mayhem we got gas which is cheaper in Spain and I signed up for the pool up at our Spanish golf course.

As we got to the monastery where Columbus lived we saw a restaurant and went in. The manager spoke some English and we ordered something. You would think that at a tourist location people would speak English but this is untrue. We ended up with rice and shrimp and then fried sardines. The rice was really good, but that was it.

This is the restaurant we ate is not much of a meal but very nice restaurant.

This is an observation tower I believe we did not check it out and there were very few people at the site.

Kelly and Trish go horse back riding

Yesterday Trish and Kelly went riding. The man who took them around is Spanish and owns a riding school there. His wife is a veterinarian and owns the farm just west of where we are staying. I went bowling and after a good game Monday our team posted badly again.

The pictures do a better job of describing the riding and how beautiful the day was. It got up to about 75 and felt warmer in the sun. I have left the pictures small because I think you can make them large by clicking on them. If this is not so please let me know.

Good morning Tuesday February 4th

Nothing to report. We are settling in and really just going about as if we live here. We walk, shop and Bowl. Today Trish and Kelly are going riding. We are anxiously awaiting the results from Iowa, which they say due to the fact it is a very small state will be in this month.

Portugal is starting to live up to it's reputation

Today day 5 was warm and sunny. We think it got to about 75 or 76 f. Having gone to mass last night bowled in the round up this morning. The first half of the game was a continuation of Friday. The our team got going and in the last 9 ends only lasted 11 to 9.

When I got home we had lunch and went shopping. Following shopping we went to downtown Tavira  and got Kelly a coffee. We all had coffee and a Pasteis de Nata. A Pasteis de Data is the famous Portuguese pastry. It was very pleasant so we went for a little walk afterwards.
